STAY: The Crown Inn Pooley Bridge.

If you're looking to do the Ullswater Steamers, then there is no better place to stay than the Crown Inn Pooley Bridge. Located a mere 3 minutes walk from the Pooley Bridge pier, the Crown Inn Pooley Bridge is all about location.

While this place is known for it's food, it's lesser known for how adorable and comfortable its guest rooms are. Affordable, great location and a surprisingly modern and suave interior.

The bathroom was my favourite out of any we stayed at due to it’s functionality and rain-shower head. It was also generously kitted out with loads of bathroom staples (think shampoo, conditioner, and even more!) that we tried to use nearly every one of because #poorlife.

The room itself was kitted out with traditional tartan throughout the sheets and chair coverings, and the beds were very comfortable. The desk in the middle of the room made it an ideal workspace, and the fast wifi made it even easier to work remotely.

After our massive day, we headed down to the bar and were pleasantly surprised at the affordability of drinks, and the awesome board games we had access to. We made friends with a few of the locals and managed to play cards, scrabble AND monopoly all in one night.

The next morning we had breakfast in the restaurant, and it was DELICIOUS. Not only did they have a buffet, they also had a hot breakfast menu that we both ordered eggs off (that were cooked to perfection!).

I can’t recommend the Crown Inn at Pooley Bridge more highly, and I’d definitely partner it up with a trip with the Ullswater Steamers for the ultimate day trip.
