Friends make fitness fun!

In an ideal world, no one would lie, cheat or say horrible things to you. Unfortunately, this is not an ideal world. The invention of modern technology and social media like Facebook and Twitter (how ironic I'm blogging!) has led to a harsher world. We are judged more than ever, based on what we say about ourselves on the internet - we create a different identity for ourselves. But if we forget the internet for a second, and focus on the people around you. A great quote that I live by is:

"It's important to get your surroundings as well as yourself into a positive state - meaning surround yourself with positive people, not the kind who are negative and jealous of everything you do."

Especially since starting this fitness journey, I've found that a lot of my 'friends' weren't willing to support me. You need to get rid of the negative people in your life, and start surrounding yourself with positive people. In high school we make friends with people, because we are all the same age. We often have no mutual goals or passions, but were rather forced together due to our age group. Out of high school is a whole other story! The friends you make after school are the ones you know you'll have for life. You share dreams, goals, passions. You can hold great conversation with one another, and never feel the need to judge each other. This is the definition of a true friend, and you should really count yourself lucky when you find one!
