The best foundations in 2018.

Let’s face it, the big ol’ world of foundations is vast, expansive and confusing as heck. Should you stick to those you know, or stray into the territory of unfamiliar? Invest in a high-end foundation that promises to change your life, or save your pennies and buy a familiar, drug-store brand?

These are all the questions and more that have been running through my mind recently, and I knew I needed help to find the best foundations. SO, I turned to my dear followers over at @livewithelle Instagram, and asked for your recommendations.I was hoping for one or two, but I ended up being inundated with incredible, thoughtful answers.

There were a few foundations that kept cropping up time and time again, and I’m determined to try them all. I want to share the wisdom of the Live with Elle community with all of you, so I’ve decided to write down the top recommendations for you all.

If you’ve tried any of these or would like to add to the list, please do comment below and I’ll try to keep this updated. After all, these are the best foundations for 2018!

FOUNDATIONS I’VE TRIED & TESTED

best foundations for 2018

Napoleon Perdis - Stroke of Genius  $69 or £39

This is one of my all-time favourite foundations. It’s incredible coverage, feels like cashmere and uses biopolymer spheres that act as a filler and smooth out skin.

best foundations for 2018

L’Oreal -  True Match $17 or £10

So many people recommended this, and it’s meant to match 98% of skin types. I’ve tried this foundation before and found it didn’t work on my skin type, but I’m keen to give it another try due to all the glowing reviews (and price tag!).

best foundation for 2018

YSL - Touche Éclat $60 or £35

This foundation feels like you’re applying pure silk to your skin. It works wonderfully on all skin types, and makes your skin so glowy without looking caked on at all. It’s one of my personal all time-faves, and yours as well!

best foundation for 2018

Estee Lauder -  Double Wear $59 or £33.50

If you need foundation that simply will not budge, you can’t go past Estee Lauder Double Wear. I’ve had night outs wearing this, danced and sweated the whole night and woken up with a perfect face. Seriously. If you need long-wear, go the Double Wear. It’s not a super breathable foundation, and I prefer wearing it in winter rather than summer as it has the potential to look a little cakey at times.

FOUNDATIONS I NEED TO TRY

best foundation for 2018

La Mer -  The Soft Fluid Long Wear $150 or £90

Luxurious, hydrating and full on antioxidants, this is definitely a high-end beauty product. Don’t be scared by the price tag; I’ve been told it’s worth every cent.

best foundation for 2018

Becca -  Aqua Luminous $60 or £34

I’ve been told this is extremely build-able, and feels like you’re wearing nothing at all. Perfect for daily use and can be built up for a night out after work. On a side note, Becca also do the most kickass highlighters, so I imagine their foundations would be just as fab!

Best foundation for 2018

Nars -  Sheer Glow $58 or £33

A glowing, natural finish that leaves the skin radiant. This is another buildable foundation that was more recommended by you than anything else! I’ll be purchasing this as my next foundation.

Best foundations for 2018

Too Faced - Born This Way $51 or £29

Another favourite amongst readers, the Too Faced Born this Way foundation has long had a reputation for having undetectable coverage. It’s oil-free, but still helps to keep skin hydrated through the use of coconut water. Full coverage that doesn't look it!
