REVIEW: Dakota Hotel Edinburgh
As we’re picked up by our private driver in a luxurious 7 series BMW branded Dakota car, we can’t help but love the Dakota already. Located a 15 minute drive from Edinburgh city centre, the Dakota Hotel is located in South Queensferry and takes luxury to a whole new level.
The hotel offers a free transfer to/from the hotel to the airport, and from the moment you step into that world of comfort, you never really leave it. We’re dropped at the front of the Dakota, and walk through the golden curtains into a decadent lobby.
We cruise up to the front desk, and are greeted by some of the most genuine hospitality staff I’ve ever met. Armed with our room key, we head up to the 5th floor to our Executive Room.
The Executive Room at the Dakota Hotel is a step up from their classic, with luxurious finishing touches and furniture. I can’t begin to imagine what the suites are like, because the Executive Room is really a cut above the rest. Every detail has been thought about, from lush robes and slippers to personal wardrobes on either side of the bedhead. The space has been utilised extremely well, with storage at the foot of the bed, and plenty of nooks and crannies for personal items.
The heating was on in the room already, the bed covered in rose petals and the mood was set with dimming lights. The Dakota Hotel Valentines package takes your date night to the next level, and you really do feel like you’re in your own world. The room also had Sky with ALL the channels, a personal wifi router just for our room, hairdryer and a chocolate turndown service (a nice touch).
Special mention to the leather lined desk chair, plush armchair and the incredible waterfall shower. The real winner of the bedroom however, was the bed. At the foot was a 100% Scottish wool blanket, followed by a plush duvet, fresh white sheets and THE most comfortable pillows and king size mattress I’ve ever slept on. If you’re looking for somewhere that offers not only a brilliant stay, but the best night’s sleep of your entire life, it’s at the Dakota Hotel in Edinburgh.
We also checked out the DAKOTA FIRST Lounge & Bar, where we were given welcome drinks and canapes (the haggis bonbons are the most delicious thing ever).
In terms of location, the Dakota Hotel isn’t in the city centre. It’s around a 15-20 minute drive into the city, and our Uber cost us £15. However, there is a train station that is an 8 minute walk away (if you’re not lazy like us!), and will take you to the city centre for only £2 per person!
If you’re looking for affordable luxury for a serious luscious night, then the Dakota Hotel, Edinburgh is for you. I’ll never stop raving about how comfortable the bed was, and if you value your sleep then this is the ultimate weekend getaway hotel for you. They have plenty of deals running at the moment, including a decadent Valentines deal that you can check out more here.
**I was kindly hosted for two nights for free, but all words and opinions are my own.**
