Pearls of Wisdom from Debbie Wise.

World, meet Debbie; PR extraordinaire, mum of two and successful business owner. I met Debbie a few years ago when I was working for Women's Health, and ever since then I've been in total awe of her incredible work ethic and beautiful nature. Debbie is someone I REALLY admire and I'm sure we can all learn from her.

Thanks for interviewing with us. We'd love to know more about you, your background and way of life.

Despite proudly calling myself an Australian, I was born and raised in South Africa before relocating to Sydney in my teens. I also spent 7 years abroad in London during my late twenties, early thirties. I’ve had the pleasure of learning so many interesting things from living in 3 countries. I’m married to my gorgeous husband Richard and we have two beautiful children, my son Luke is 5 and my daughter Annabel is 3.  Our home is on Sydney’s northern beaches, so we love to be outdoors enjoying the sunshine and beaches. My two little ones and having my own business really keeps me on my toes – the struggle of the juggle!

Coffee, freshly squeezed juice or a glass of wine?

I’m a tea girl at heart…I drink copious cups through the day.  I’m also quite partial to a chilled glass of rose, especially on warm, balmy summer days.

Where do you find inspiration for your goals & dreams?

Everywhere you look there is inspiration to grow and develop…..nature is so powerful for me and I look at the wonder of creation and believe anything is possible!  My children inspire me to be the best person I possibly can and give them the best example I can. There are so many successful and generous women out there to draw inspiration from. My Mum has been the best role-model I could have asked for, showing my sister and I that in spite of adversity, you can create success if you are generous, passionate and work hard.

What does self love mean to you?

I believe that self-love is a balancing act between looking after yourself inside and out. Nurturing your spirituality, peace and own personal joy. Being kind to yourself and accepting that ‘road bumps’ are all part of your life journey. Giving yourself permission to accept success, whatever that looks like for you whilst being humble at the same time. Taking care of your health and body with the utmost care….you have one chance, so make the most of yourself. Eat good food, exercise as often as you can, keep your health checks in order and look after your skin (my life’s mantra)! Your complexion tells a story, so take time to invest in your skin with great products that are tailor-made for your needs.

What is something that not many people know about you?

I have had a close call with death in a horrible accident in 1997 which gave me a whole new appreciation of the fragility of life. Every day is a gift.

What is your favourite quote, and why?

‘As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he’ …from Proverbs 23:7. There are no truer words…what you think about, you become.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Don’t worry so much about what people think about you…. focus on being the best version of yourself you can be. Travel, travel and travel – no better education out there!

What's on the horizon for your future? Are any exciting plans coming up?

I’d like to do more in reaching out to women and making an impact on people’s lives. I take such pleasure in knowing that my everyday work is helping others and goes beyond just me…..DOT&RIBBON supports the A21 charity, working to eliminate human trafficking around the world through education, intervention and aftercare. There are millions of slaves in the world today, more than ever before in human history. Everyone deserves freedom and I believe in the brilliant work they do to rescue and rehabilitate men, women and children. I’d like to do more and support those in rehabilitation in the safe houses around the world. On a more personal note, I have a home renovation project on the go that is keeping my creative juices flowing.

Dogs or cats?

Neither to be honest (!) – I have an appreciation for both after having them as pets growing up. My kids would love a puppy and the idea is really starting to grow on me… so perhaps I’ll become a dog lover.

What is your go-to song to get you feeling motivated?

Anything from Cold Play stirs me up…positive, happy life memories all the way from this band and listening to their sounds lifts my soul.

Who are 3 people you'd recommend following on IG for major inspiration?

@aerin

@mrsalice

@A21
