Pearls of Wisdom from Megan Luscombe.
You know how they say you have a spirit animal? Megan Luscombe is mine. I often envision her as a magical unicorn, that knows the answer to every question on Earth. Seriously, if you don't know who Megan Luscombe is, I'm excited for you to learn more about her. A life & relationship coach who is inspiring, passionate and one hell of a human being. I was lucky enough to chat with Megan on our series for #galswithgoals, and I promise you're going to want more out of life after reading this beauty.
Thanks for interviewing with us! We'd love to know more about you, your background and way of life.
I'm Megan, a recently turned 30 year old (#dirtythirty) from the most liveable city in the world, Melbourne. I currently reside in Chadstone with my incredible partner, Gwen and whilst yes living so close to the Fashion Capital is great from a location stand point, it's terrible for my wallet (I swear the older I get the more clothes and shoes I seem to need/want). I come from a large family and have always found myself in the shoes of either the listener or helper.
I feel things on a deeper level than most and can say without doubt that I wear my heart firmly on my sleeve and I love that about myself. I'm a musician in my spare time and have been writing music since I was a teenager, a piano is one of my truest loves. Outside of being obsessed with brunch spots (and breakfast in general) I really enjoy catch ups with family and my closest friends, running (or trying to), espresso martinis, binge watching some of my favourite shows, cooking, reading and a few glasses of wine in good company. Running two businesses keeps me busy but also allows both sides of my brain to keep engaged. The first business being my own business as a Life & Relationship Coach and the second being The Creators Market.
I studied psychology throughout university and worked as an event manager from my late teens to mid twenties (whilst also completing my coaching certifications), so launching businesses in these areas makes perfect sense. I'm fortunate to love waking up every morning and working for myself and I don't take it for granted. My way of life is to be true to who I am and what I feel, to follow my sense of adventure and to live a life I'm proud of.
Coffee, freshly squeezed juice or a glass of wine?
Coffee wise I'll never go without a flat white, and when it comes to juice I'm obsessed with the combination of apple and ginger. It's such a good kick of flavour and really gets me going in the morning. I'm a HUGE sucker for a deep red wine with a sexy body, so you'll often find me with a Pinot Noir or Shiraz. However, can I add a fourth option? Because truth be told my heart beats true for the Espresso Martinis. I'm obsessed with them and will never turn one down (or three...which leads to an overactive heart beat at night, but #idgaf).
Where do you find inspiration for your goals & dreams?
In books I read, music I listen to, people I surround myself with and my incredibly talented and gorgeous partner. I'm fortunate to be an extremely driven individual who is surrounded by like minded people who bring out the best in me (and each other). I'm inspired to achieve my goals/work in the field I do, because I was raised with the philosophy that every one of us has a responsibility to make this world a better place and I truly want to do that.
What does self love mean to you?
Self love is a constant work in progress for me and I've come to know, appreciate, understand and value that. It's so much more about inner work to as opposed to physical attributes (if that makes sense), which is something I've only really understood the older I've become. I know what my heart and soul needs in order to be nourished, calm, open and warm and I make sure to do those things often. I make it a priority to say YES to myself, a lot and I never used to do that.
What is something that not many people know about you?
My grandparent's raised me with their 12 children (my mother being one of them) so I spent the first chunk of my life in a house of 15.
What is your favourite quote, and why?
I'm not sure if this applies but I sort of have my OWN life quote which goes like this:
"If it's not a fuck yes, it's a fuck no."
What that means is you either do something because you want to or don't do it at all...and that's 100% okay. We as individuals spend so much of our life/time doing things that we really don't give a shit about because we're trying to please people, we're guilty to say no and loads of other reasons. A few years ago I decided to stop being that person because MY LIFE is important as is my time/wants/needs. So, now when I do something it's because my heart and soul says FUCK YES! DO IT! It's a great way to make decisions because it means everything you do is because you truly want to. So that's my favourite quote because it keeps me grounded to doing what I truly want in life.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Don't be afraid to say no to things.
What's on the horizon for your future? Are any exciting plans coming up?
I've just launched my new podcast, SEX LOVE & WINE. This has been something I've wanted to do for a while and whilst I was so nervous to launch it, I'm also excited. The podcast aims at delivering real talk and advice about sex, love and relationships to those who need it most or might just be interested in the areas of human relationships (romantic and plutonic). Why the wine? I'm going to have a few glasses for every podcast I record because a) I love wine and b) I love wine. Oh! I'm also in the process of writing my very first book (which is a LOT harder than I originally anticipated).
Dogs or cats?
Horses. They're my biggest animal love and I've always been so drawn to them on a deep level, they instantly calm me and ground me in a way I can't really explain. However, it is a goal of mine to one down have an Italian Greyhound (gosh they're adorable) and a Great Dane (who I'll likely give a ridiculous name like Tiny to)!
What is your go-to song to get you feeling motivated?
I LIVED - One Republic. This is my ULTIMATE song for life. It reminds me to push, love and live harder. I'd encourage everyone to listen to it! It's the perfect song for a walk, run or even a long plane ride to new adventures. It inspires me, motivates me and continues to make me happy (even when I have it on replay...which I do somedays).
Who are 3 people you'd recommend following on IG for major inspiration?

2. @bodyposipanda - every girl should love her body and THIS account hits EVERY SINGLE NAIL ON THE HEAD when it comes to body love, body appreciation and body championing.
