5 minutes with... Alice from @aliceinhealthyland
You know how people will often refer to incredible women as "Wonder Women?" They're able to juggle a million things at once, whilst still looking amazing being incredibly kind and social? Yep, that's Alice Balcon from Alice in Healthyland. I was lucky enough to meet Alice at the Rising Social Star Australia competition, and we have stayed friends afterwards. Alice is the most caring, beautiful mother to Cruzie, inspiration to thousands and friend to many. I've always felt very inspired by her and I hope you are too!
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am a person that struggles to sit still, so I am constantly on the move. I have always been like that since I was little. I am the eldest of eight children and I am very close with every one of them. I am a first time mumma to my gorgeous little boy Cruz who is 1 and I am a wifey to my soul mate. I am passionate about living a healthy and active lifestyle. I am a Registered Nurse and I love to advocate health and wellness. I really really enjoy walking, I could totally walk from dusk to dawn and still be smiling, walking is my thing.
How did Aliceinhealthyland begin?
Originally I started it because I had lost 20kg and I wanted something to motivate me to keep it off. It was like a diary that I would share with the world so that I had something to be accountable for. Today it is so much more than that, I preach self love, mumlife moments, workouts, share healthy recipes I create and love to share products that I love. It started as a Instagram account and I now have a website, blog and Facebook page. I absolutely love running Alice In Healthyland.
What's your best piece of advice for working mums out there?
My advice would be to get prepared! Being organised is what helps me to achieve my work and get it done. Write lists and tick them off when you accomplish them, it is a really rewarding way to get shit done. It you want to live the mumlife and worklife with balance then get a diary and pencil in times for work and times for play.
How do you keep so fit after having Cruz?
Staying fit is a priority in my life as I live and breed fitness. I love it! I walk everywhere I can, I train 2-3times a week at a gym called HIIT Australia, I love this because the workouts are already laid out for me. I only think about what needs to be done in training. I also have a trainer once a week to increase my strength. I love trying out new things too so once a month I pick a new gym or wellness centre to try out. I think its great to mix things up. You don’t have to go to a gym if you can’t afford it just do it at home. You tube have some great home workouts you can follow, all you need is a yoga mat and some cheap Kmart weights. As a mumma I cannot always go to the gym as much as I like but I always do something to move my body, sometimes its just something simple like 10 squats every time I go to the fridge or push ups on the kitchen bench why I wait for my food to cook.
What is happening with Alice in Healthyland over the next few months?
I am going to be releasing a recipe ebook. I am also looking into my personal training and nutrition course hopefully early next year so I really can change Alice In Healthyland into a full time business. Anything is possible if you really want it right?!
What is your favourite quote?
